Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I join?

A: Register with our league via this website, and make plans to attend one of our  Skills Assessment Days. Dates and times will be posted to the league schedule when they are determined. They're usually two weeks to three weeks prior to the start of the season.

Q: When does the season begin?

A: We have completed our 2021 Season!  Our 2022 Season will begin March or April 2022, information will be posted to the website and emailed to the league starting December.  Don't wait to get connected with us, join our email list and social media platforms for team events that happen year round.

Q: Do we know how many total teams the league will have this year?

A:  We typically have 28-35 teams for our seasons.

Q: When will registration open?

A:  Player Registration will open in January 2022 for the 2022 season.  When registration opens, a Registration Tab will be visible within the website.

Q: I know someone who wants to play. Will there be a player placement day again this year?

A: Yes, there will be skills assessment days as we approach the 2022 softball season.  Dates will be announced later.

Q: How do I find a team?

A: After you register you will be added to the email list for that season. We will send out information about Skills Assessment Days, usually held 2-3 weeks before the season starts.  During the skills clinic, we will rate your playing skills and that will help us determine which division of play would be the best fit for you.   You will get to meet members of our Executive Board and coaches so you can get to know us.  We will then do our best to match you with a team that is looking for new additions.  

Q: How competitive is the league?

A:  Our league has five divisions of play. A, B, C, D, and E. The A division is our most competitive level of play and has our most experienced players; E is our division for those who want a more recreational level of play or are beginners, and B, C, D, are in between. Our A, B, C, D, and E divisions are open divisions or best described as co-ed teams.

Q: I have never played softball before, am I welcome?

A: YES!! We welcome brand new players and love teaching them the sport. You'll learn to play a fun game, get to be outdoors, and meet some great folks as Hotlanta Softball is an excellent way to meet new people in the LGBT community. 

Q: What do I need to play?

A: You'll need turf shoes or cleats (no metal spikes), a softball glove, appropriate sports attire, and a desire to have fun! Most teams will have a selection of bats to use for practice that are owned by the players, so you can wait until you start playing before investing in your own. Our league follows a pick-a-stick program, meaning, we provide game-day bats that everyone uses.  If you do buy a bat, it must be USA/ASA approved. 

Q: What does it cost?

A: $85

Q: When is practice?

A: Hotlanta Softball does not schedule team practices as those are up to each individual team. Some teams practice once or twice a week and others may not practice at all. When we introduce you to our coaches, you can ask them for more details about their teams.

Q: When and Where are games played?

A: Games will usually be played at Johnson Park in Conyers, GA.  The exact location will be published once the fields are confirmed for the season.  Games are played on Sundays between 8 am-5 pm.
