About Hotlanta Softball League

Hotlanta Softball - We Are A Great Catch!

The Hotlanta Softball League is a 501c(3) Organization.

  Its FEIN is 61-1649597.

The Hotlanta Softball League was founded in 1981 by the LGBTQ community of Atlanta that were looking for a place that would let them play recreational softball in a safe inclusive environment.  In the beginning our league was a small league with very few teams playing at Piedmont Park; today our league has grown to over 550 members making up between 30 - 35 teams.  The Hotlanta Softball League, respectively called HSL, has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings.

The Hotlanta Softball League is an active member city in the Amateur Sports Alliance of North America, ASANA, and the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance, NAGAAA.  Both ASANA and NAGAAA are non-profit organizations dedicated to the promotion of amateur athletics with a special emphasis on the participation of members from the LGBTQ Community.  The Hotlanta Softball League ranks as one of the largest member cities within ASANA and NAGAAA.

We have two seasons of play, Spring and Fall.  Our Spring season runs from March to June with teams playing 9 weeks of play and 18 games, with an All League Tournament honoring our Hall of Fame Members.  There are five distinct classes or levels of play in our spring season: A Division, B Division, C Division, and two D Divisions.  These divisions relate to the competitive level of play or the skill level of the competitors with the A Division being the most skilled and the D Division supporting more recreational levels of play.  Winners from the A, B, C, and D-Divisions advance to the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series and ASANA Softball World Series representing the Hotlanta Softball League as Team Atlanta.  In 1998, the Hotlanta Softball League hosted the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series!

In addition to our Spring and Fall Softball seasons, the Hotlanta Softball League also conducts a NAGAAA recognized annual Memorial Day Tournament, known as the Big Peach Softball Tournament.  The Big Peach typically brings up to teams and close to 1,000 players from around the country for the two day tournament.  2018 marks the 33rd Anniversary of Tournament Play in Atlanta.

The Hotlanta Softball League is governed by a nine person Executive Board, the Spring Coaches Delegation, and several Committees.  If you are interested in getting involved with HSL, please contact one of our Executive Board members or send an email to
